The APEC associated committee was set up jointly with the Commission of the European Communities (CEC) and will comprise approximately 10 leading European Scientists.
This consultative committee received the endorsement of the 1989 General Assembly.
The task is to advise both institutions (CEC and ESF) on future directions for basic research as well as on research in support of policy needs which arise from environmental change and its consequences for man.
