Abstract

In accordance with the mandates given by the European Science Research Councils (ESRC) conferences in Aarhus (1972) and Oxford (1975) and by the ESF Assembly (October 1975), ESRC has been concerned with administrative matters, aspects of science policy regarding the Member Organisations and some specific scientific questions.
These activities are, in line with the principal task of the ESRC Member Organisations, mainly connected with research promotion in the field of natural sciences.

Abstract: The Committee of European Science Research Councils (ESRC) (named Committee of West European Science Research Councils till its meeting in April 1977) was created at the Aarhus Conference held in February 1972, on the initiative of the Nordic natural science research councils and the Nederlandse Organisatie voor Zuiver-Westens-chappelijk Onderzoek (ZWO).
