The Tropical Canopy Research Scientific Programme was launched in January 1994, under the auspices of ESRC.
Over the begining of the 1990's there has been rapidely growing awareness of the lack of understanding of the interactions and interdependance of living organisms on Earth and of man's impact of this complex web.
This programme should provide a greater understanding of tropical forest ecosystem functioning and the significance of biodiversity in its structural and functional maintenance and regeneration.
