Abstract
The activities of the ESF in natural sciences began with the topics co-ordinated by the Standing Committee of the European Science Research Councils (ESRC). In fact, the ESRC sponsored 3 joint European projects: the European Geotraverse Project, the Forest Ecosystem Research Network, and research projects in Taxonomy.
