Abstract
ESF provides the umbrella for international collaboration in ice core drilling and analysis. The Greenland Ice Core programme originating from the Polar Science Network was launched in January 1989 after the approbation of the proposal for an European Glaciological Programme (EGP) / Greenland Ice Core Project (GRIP) by the ESF Assembly in 1988, and will come to a close in 1994.
Eight nations are participating in GRIP: Belgium, Danemark, France, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Switzerland and United Kingdom.
They are within the remit of the ESRC.
