Abstract

Item 1: Draft agenda of the 36th meeting of the Administrative Board. Item 2: Draft minutes of the 35th meeting of the Administrative Board, 25 March 1988. Minutes, signed by Clive Purkiss, Director and Jean-Claude Vandermeeren, Chairperson of the Administrative Board, detail the progress report of the Director for the period December 1987-March 1988 (p.1), the presentation of the annual report for 1987 that was approved by the Board (p.2) the discussion of the four-year rolling programme 1989-1992 (p.4) and the 'Round table of the Social Partners in the Environment-June 1988' the aim of which was to 'pinpoint key areas where the Social Partners have a role to play and make suggestions for action that might be taken at the appropriate level in the Community' (p.9). A list of persons present at the 35th Board meeting is annexed. 11pp. Item 3: Thirty-third progress report by the Director on the activities of the European Foundation covering the period March 1988-August 1988. Report notes that 'the 1987 Work Programme is progressing according to schedule and implementation of the 1988 Programme is well in hand ... There is considerable pressure on both financial and staff resources in order to maintain levels of research and publications activities' (p.1). Also detailed is the programme of work (p.1), External Relations (p.2), Finance and Organisation (p.2) and Staff (p.3). A number of annexes are attached. Item 4: Draft four-year programme for 1989-1992 titled '1992 and beyond: new opportunities for action to improve living and working conditions in Europe'. Programme is divided into three parts; 1. Introduction, 2. Areas and themes of work 1989-1992 and 3. Activities, resources and organisation. 67pp.
AB/36/4/1-The Commission's comments on the European Foundation's four-year rolling programme 1989-1992. The Commission congratulates the Foundation on the draft four-year programme (p.1) and states that 'it would be important to ensure that there is no duplication with studies and programmes undertaken by the Commission in these areas' (p.1). Commission then makes a number of suggestions it feels could enhance the draft programme.
AB/36/4/2-Sheet containing an amendment to be made to the draft four-year rolling programme. French only. Item 5: Discussion document on the 'Strategy for implementing the four-year rolling programme 1989 and outline of the work programme for 1989'. Document sets out the salient points for the implementation of the programme including 'Developing social dialogue and industrial relations' (p.2), 'Restructuring the world of work' (p.2), 'Protecting the environment, the worker and the public' (p.3) and 'Assessing technologies of the future' (p.4). An outline of the work programme for 1989 is included (pp.5-9). 9pp. Item 6: AB/36/6a-Signed decision authorising the award of contracts for external printing to Brunswick Press.
AB/36/6b-Discharge granted to the Foundation by the European Parliament on the Foundation's 1986 accounts. Included is a copy of the Court of Auditor's Report on the 1986 Accounts of the European Foundation ... accompanied by the comments of the Foundation and the Accounts for the year 1986'.
