Content and Structure
Item 1: Draft agenda of the 24th meeting of the Administrative Board. Item 2: Draft minutes of the 23rd meeting of the Administrative Board, 23 March 1984. Minutes are signed by the Deputy Director of the Foundation and the Chairperson of the Administrative Board. Minutes detail the presentation of the Annual Report for 1983 (p.1), the first exchange of views on the next four-year rolling programme (p.6) and a discussion on the Parliament Resolution on the Foundation (p.11) in which the Chairperson summarises the resolution adopted by the European Parliament, 16 December 1983, noting that 'so far ... the Commission had not acted upon this resolution' (p.12). The Workers Group spokesperson stressed that the trade unions felt that the Parliament was stepping outside its area while the Government Group spokesperson said that closer contacts might have been established between the management of the Foundation and the Parliamentary Committees. A list of persons present and a statement by the Employers Group on the four-year rolling programme 1985-1988 are annexed. 19pp. Item 3: Twenty-first progress report, by the Deputy-Director, on the activities of the European Foundation covering the period March-July 1984. Report, dated 8 June 1984, details the activities of the Foundation including 'on 16 May 1984 Mr Wiebe de Jong retired as Director of the European Foundation. He did not resume his duties in the Foundation since his illness in January 1984.' (p.1). Also included in the progress report is the 1984 Budgetary Situation (p.1), Research/Evaluation/Dissemination Activities (p.2) and Next four-year rolling programme 1985-88 (p.6). Annexes include 'Evaluation colloquium on multi-disciplinary studies on shift work and innovation' (p.7) and 'Evaluation colloquium concerning case studies on technological development and its impact on shift work in the Printing Industry' (p.10). 10pp. Included also are two pages to replace pages 4 and 6 of the progress report. Item 4: Draft four-year rolling programme of the European Foundation 1985-1988. Programme outlines the background to the four-year rolling programme (p.2) and the activities of the Programme (p.7). An Appendix to the four-year rolling programme is included. 36pp. Item 5: Draft programme of work for 1985. Programme details the proposed activities of the Foundation for 1985 including Information and Dissemination (p.1), Research Promotions (p.1) and The Human Environment that includes Protection of the Environment and the Health of the Population. Draft programme only contains proposals 'as the four-year rolling programme 1985-1988 is still being discussed by the Board it has not yet been possible to draw up a work programme for 1985 based on an adopted four-year rolling programme.' Item 7: AB/24/7a-Signed ratification of the decisions taken by the Bureau since the Board meeting of 23 March 1984.
AB/24/7b-Signed decision amending the rules relating to the reimbursement of Commission-organised Summer Holiday Camps.
AB/24/7c-List of study contracts submitted to the 24th meeting of the Board for approval. Item 8: Report detailing the proposed strategy for Information Dissemination and Publications. Report states that while the initial publications strategy was successful in many ways it was now time to re-assess the impact and effectiveness of the initial dissemination programme and develop accordingly new ways of communicating better with those bodies to which the Foundation must address itself. (p.1). Report includes Developing a Strategy (p.2), Methods to be employed (p.6) and a Conclusion (p.9). 10pp. Item 9: Item 10: Other: File containing an English and French copy of the invitation issued to Board members that includes an invitation to a cocktail reception on 11 July 1984 'to say farewell to the former Director, Wiebe de Jong'.
