Context
The Network on Crystallography of Biological Macromolecules was approved by the ESF Executive Council in March 1987 for an initial two-year period (Phase 1), and moved in July 1990 into Phase 2. It was completed in 1993.
The Chairman was Professor Jan Drenth from the University of Groningen, in The Netherlands.
Content and Structure
The objectives of the Network are: to identify areas of crystallography important in the development of European molecular biology and to its applications, mainly in clinical, agricultural and industrial areas; to coordinate the development of specific software packages; to coordinate the use of facilities for macro-molecular crystallography at the European level; to promote the development of bio-crystallography.
