The Network on Panel Studies of Households was approved by the ESF Executive Council in March 1990. It was completed at the end of 1993.
The Chairman was Professor Gaston Schaber.

The aim of the Network on Panel Studies of Households is to develop collaboration between the social scientists interested in the study of the socio-economic conditions and behaviour of households. Their studies examine changes in the domestic economy of households, their income, wealth, assets, expenditures; their behaviour in the labour market; economic decision-making within the households; the formation and dissolution of households. The Network aims to investigate the possibility of creating a set of identically defined European data, applicable to different studies in the field of households.
