The Network on Economic History of Europe between the Wars was approved by the ESF Executive Council in November 1989 for an initial two-year phase. It was completed in 1993.
The Chairman was François Caron, Professor of Economic History at the Université de Paris-Sorbonne.
Content and Structure
The Network on Economic History of Europe between the Wars focuses on the economic developments during the interwar period and on the profound social and political consequences. The opening years of the period were dominated by the immediate economic, demographic and political consequences of the First World War, and subsequent progress was characterised by an unusual combination of strong growth and of severe crisis.
The Network places emphasis on the financial and trading interactions between the various economies.
