The Network on Earth Science Study Centres was the second Network, approved by ESF Executive Council in July 1985 for an initial two-year period (Phase 1), and then moved in January 1988 into Phase 2.
The Chairman was Stephan Mueller, Professor of Geophysics at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich) and at the University of Zurich.
