Content and Structure
Item 1: Draft agenda of the twenty-fourth meeting of the Committee of Experts. Item 2: Draft minutes of the twenty-third meeting of the Committee of Experts, 24-25 May 1988. Minutes detail the report by the Chairperson on the activities of the Administrative Board (p.1), the report by Clive Purkiss, Director, on the activities of the Foundation (p.1), the report on the role of the Committee of Experts (p.2) and the preparation of the 1989-1992 four-year rolling programme (p.3). 4pp. A list of participants is annexed. Item 3: Report by Gilbert Cornu, Chairperson of the Committee, on the activities of the Administrative Board. No document. (Report was postponed in the absence of the Chairperson.) Item 4: CE/24/4(1)-Thirty-third progress report by the Director on the activities of the European Foundation covering the period March 1988-August 1988 notes 'There is considerable pressure on both financial and staff resources in order to maintain levels of research and publications activities' (p.1). Also detailed are 'programme of work' (p.1), 'External Relations' (p.2), 'Finance and Organisation' (p.2) and 'Staff' (p.3). A number of annexes are attached. Report was submitted to the Administrative Board as item AB 36/3.
CE/24/4(2)-Thirty-fourth progress report by the Director on the activities of the European Foundation covering the period September 1988-November 1988. Report notes there has been a concentration of effort to define the first year of the (four-year) programme at the same time as maintaining the momentum of the 1988 programme ... Staff have taken part in a range of symposia and other events organised by the Directorates-General of the Commission ... Staff continue to work extremely effectively, although under sustained pressure' (p.1). Included also is a report on 'The programme of work' including 'The flow of information booklets is now established. Eight titles exist and three are in preparation' (p.1). A number of annexes are attached including 'New research commitments as at 21.10.1988' (annex 2) and 'Round tables, conferences, seminars etc' (annex 4). Report was submitted to the Administrative Board as item AB 37/3.
CE/24/4(3)-Discussion document on the 'Strategy for implementing the four-year rolling programme 1989-1992 and draft activities for 1989'. Discussion document sets out the salient points for the implementation of the programme during the course of the years 1989-1992 for each of the six areas of work and is accompanied by a description of possible activities for 1989. 55pp. Document was submitted to the Administrative Board as item AB 37/4.
