Abstract

Item 1: Draft agenda of the sixth meeting of the Committee of Experts. Included also is a note listing the new documents that were introduced at the meeting and the order in which they were discussed. Item 2: Draft minutes of the fifth meeting of the Committee of Experts, 18-19 January 1979. Minutes detail the Report on the Rome seminar on the future information policy of the European Foundation (p.3), the seminar on work organisation (p.5), the discussion on the 1979 annual work programme (p.9) and the discussion on the possible role of the Committee of Experts regarding the evaluation of research projects (p.10). The Chairperson, on behalf of the Committee, also referred to the problems existing for the staff of the Foundation regarding social security. (p.11). 11pp. Item 3: Discussion of the Committee of Experts on the Foundation Model for new forms of work organisation. Summary of the seminar held in Dublin, 18-19 January 1979, containing a 'lively, detailed and critical discussion of the proposed model developed by the Foundation'. 5pp. Item 4: Draft programme of work for 1980. Programme details the proposed work of the Foundation including the 'consolidation and completion of activities started in 1978 and 1979' and 'the implementation of a number of research promotion activities under the 1977-1980 programme.' Submitted to the Administrative Board as AB 9/4. Item 5: Discussion on the Committee's advice for the next four-year rolling programme (1981-1984). No document. Included is the Holte Report (see CE/4/4) and recommendations for the work programme. (AB 6/6). Item 6: Report by FJ Janssen, member of the Committee of Experts, on the seminar on Safety and health at work, Dublin 29-30 March 1979. In his report Janssen outlines his views on the seminar and concludes with the recommendations that the Foundation should 'formulate the tasks of the researchers more exactly so that the reports deal with the same subjects' and 'all participants should receive the full reports concerning their own countries for evaluation, and they should be explicitly asked to evaluate the reports both in general and from the groups point of view in particular'. 2pp. Item 7: Report to the Committee on the seminar on the Role of training in the development of new forms of work organisation, 31 May-1 June 1979, Dublin. It notes that the Employers' group were satisfied with the studies, the Labour union group 'doubted whether the choice of experts was appropriate. They found that the report was prepared for specialists and difficult to understand' while the Government group 'found that the rich literature available on the topic had not been taken into account'. 19pp. Item 8: Report of Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson on the pre-evaluation meeting on the Foundation's 'Model', Dublin 12-13 July 1979. [No document]. Included are discussion documents by Eberhard Koehler, Research Manager 3pp. and Dr Weil (German only). 6pp. German only. Item 9: Copy of a signed decision by the Bureau amending the travel, subsistence and travel allowance of members of the Committee of Experts circulated for information only. 2pp. Other: Letter dated 10 September 1979, from Thorkild Herborg Nielsen, Chairperson, to members of the Committee of Experts reporting on the ninth Administrative Board meeting, 19-20 July 1979.
