Abstract

Item 1: Draft agenda of the eighteenth meeting of the Committee of Experts. Item 2: Draft minutes of the seventeenth meeting of the Committee of Experts, 20-21 February 1985. Minutes detail the report by the Chairperson on the 25th meeting of the Administrative Board (p.1), the discussion on the draft programme of work for 1985 where Thorkild Nielsen felt that 'psychologically it might be better to deal with the environmental and living conditions issue at the beginning of the programme to make it even clearer that a proper balance between working conditions and living conditions would now pertain compared to the previous heavier emphasis on working conditions' (p.4) and the timetable of seminars and colloquia for 1985 (p.7). 8pp. A communication from the Committee of Experts on the dissemination of the results of its research work is annexed. Item 3: Report by Gilbert Cornu, Chairperson of the Committee of Experts, on the last meetings of the Administrative Board, 29 March 1985 and 26 June 1985. No document. Item 5: Report by the members of the Committee on seminars and colloquia held since February 1985: CE/18/5-Evaluation report by Willi Pohler, Committee of Experts, on the seminar on 'Technological development and the public service: Impact on the general public and on employees', Dublin 19-20 September 1985. Report provides some background to the study and lists the objectives of the investigation, its methodology and results (p.2). The report concludes with an evaluation of the study with recommendations for further action (p.3). 3pp. CE/18/5a-Report, by Thorkild Herborg Nielsen, Vice-Chairperson of the Committee, on the 'First coordination meeting on the impact of biotechnology on living and working conditions', Brussels 17 September 1985. Report states that the 'meeting was based on a discussion of draft guidelines' for the project and lists some problems encountered in the seminar in defining and discussing biotechnology (p.2). 3pp. Item 6: Draft programme of work for 1986: CE/18/6a-Draft 1986 Work Programme. Draft programme outlines the component parts of the 1986 programme 'a more precise definition of the aims and the approach to be adopted in each programme will be produced for the Autumn meeting of the Administrative Board.' Item 8: Programme initiation and evaluation: CE/18/8a-Note from the Director on the programme initiation and evaluation. 'This note sets out the Director's understanding of the purpose of evaluation, some of the problems arising with the present approach and seeks the Bureau's advice on how these problems might be obviated and a more effective way of achieving the Foundation's aims established'. Item 9: Information paper, from the Director, on the information and dissemination policy strategy. 'This paper follows from the Administrative Board discussion of the Foundation's information and dissemination activities in June 1985'. Paper outlines the development of information and dissemination activities (p.1), new forms of presentation (p.1) and the speed of production and distribution (p.2). 6pp.
