Content and Structure
In Luxembourg, the first European school was created for the children of the European Coal and Steel representatives in 1953. Since the establishment of the European Communities in 1957, additional schools have been established in Brussels, Varese, Mol, Karlsruhe and Bergen. This film shows how the pupils in these schools are educated on the basis of mutual respect and tolerance. Also, the European curriculum, language skills and the question of a European identity are addressed. Therefore, the unification of Europe is not only related to political and economic intentions but also needs to be formed by education and upbringing. The films ends with a affirmative message: "Better prepared and free from prejudice, these boys and girls will contribute to completing the work begun by their parents: the creation of a united Europe.
