Content and Structure
Starting with the European Coal and Steel Community and then the European Atomic Energy Community, the six member states decided to establish a Common Market for all goods and services. This includes also rationalization and modernization of the coal and steel industry, creation of a common agricultural policy, promotion of the free movement of workers and, finally, a schedule for the peaceful use of nuclear energy. Animated diagrams and maps show how Europe was divided by barriers to trade, economy and movement of people. The European Community represents a new form of coexistence between peoples and may one day contribute to the emergence of a peaceful and united world. The economic development in Europe until the founding of the European Economic Community. The film explains also the organizational structure and functioning of the EEC, identifies the problems that Europe has to cope with, if it wants to be successful and competitive element between the superpowers and not destroyed by nationalistic ideas. As an economic alliance, the European Economic Community ranks the economic life of the Member States according to new norms, consolidates the relations of the contracting parties and promotes the political unification of Europe.
