By contrasting images of the European past, its present and visions of tomorrow, the film explores the aims of the European cooperation and asks how far the idea of a united Europe has become a reality. The European Community is a decision of reason, based on history, common values and shared interests. But apart from these motives, Europe has yet two other missions to fulfill: it has to become a unwavering partner of the USA, and unite all member states into a modern European federation.
