Content and Structure
This series consists of films which were commissioned and produced by transatlantic partners. From the very beginning of the European integration process the US government supported a closer European cooperation. The US government launched the European Recovery Programme (ERP), better known as Marshall Plan, and within this political initiative over 200 films were produced for European audiences by the Economic Cooperation Administration (ECA) and its successive Mutual Security Agency (MSA) between 1948 and 1953. Of these films, about fifty advertised both directly as well as indirectly a closer European cooperation. This also applies to the films productions commissioned by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
