Item 1: Draft agenda of the fifty-seventh meeting of the Bureau. No document. Item 2: Draft minutes of the fifty-sixth meeting of the Bureau, 4 March 1986. Minutes record the Bureau's preparation of the twenty-ninth meeting of the Administrative Board, 5 March 1986 including the presentation of the 1985 Annual Report (p.2) and the 1987 draft budget (p.2). 4pp. Item 3: Revised version of part one of the Annual Report for 1985. Part one of the Annual Report concentrates on a review of the year 1985. Review states that 'In 1985 the European Foundation launched its third four-year rolling programme ... At the same time the Foundation completed its 1981-1984 programme, as a result of which the Foundation had acquired expertise in a number of critical fields.' A summary of the 1985 work programme is also provided (p.3) and information about the organisation 'In July 1985 the Deputy Director took up his post with the Foundation. This, following the arrival of the Director in May 1985, ensured that the Foundation had once again a full management team' (p.9). 10pp. Item 4: Summary of the 1986 work programme. 'This document summarises the work programme of the European Foundation for 1986 as approved by the Administrative Board at its meeting of 22 November 1985.' 21pp. Item 5: Note outlining 'the principles on which the 1987 work programme will be drawn up.' Note contains an introduction to the 1987 work programme, '1987 will be a pivotal year in the implementation of the four-year rolling programme 1985-1988 ... almost all the themes, within the programme are already now underway through various projects initiated in 1985 and 1986. This is why the new research projects for 1987, rather than broaching hitherto unexplored topics, more frequently represent an extension or deepening of research for projects begun in the preceding two years.'
