Abstract

Item 1: Draft agenda of the eighty-seventh meeting of the Bureau. Item 2: Draft minutes of the eighty-sixth meeting of the Bureau, 19 November 1990. Minutes record the examination of the draft agenda of the 41st meeting of the Administrative Board including the 1991 draft programme of work (p.3), the 1991 budget (p.5) and the election of a Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson (p.6). 7pp. Item 3: Signed decision authorising 'the Bureau to make the necessary adjustments to the draft budget for 1991 when it is adopted by the Budgetary Authority along the lines set out in Annex 1.' Also a signed decision that the 'Bureau accordingly adopts these adjustments on behalf of the Board.' Included also is a note containing two corrections. Item 4: Draft programme of work for 1991. Related to the draft programme is a letter from Fritz-Jurgen Kador and Mr Thusing, German Employers Federation, to Clive Purkiss, Director, concerning the Foundation's proposed participation in a conference on 'Information and consultation in multinationals', Copenhagen, 19-20 February 1991. Letter states that 'In our opinion, this conference should under no circumstances take place with the participation of the Foundation. The conference, as presented, is a political event, likely to attract a great deal of public interest, on a topic about which in the present state of discussion there are very divergent and controversial views ... A conference of this kind can only damage the reputation of the Foundation.' Included with the letter is background information on the proposed conference, the invitation to the conference and the provisional list of participants.
