Abstract

Item 1: Draft agenda of the sixty-fifth meeting of the Bureau. Item 2: Draft minutes of the sixty-fourth meeting of the Bureau, 9 July 1987. Minutes record the discussion of the agenda of the thirty-third meeting of the Administrative Board (p.1) and the election of a Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson. 'A protracted discussion took place on this issue. It was noted that Jean Degimbe was anxious to step down after ten years.' (p.6). 7pp. Item 3: Draft programme of work for 1988. Covering note states that the 'attached document outlines the proposed work programme of the Foundation for 1988 ... The Bureau is requested to note the few changes to the lists of activities and to comment on the programme sheets.' 24pp. Item 4: First framework document on the four-year rolling programme 1989-1992. Covering note states that the 'attached document has been amended after the discussion in the working group on 14 September 1987. It is intended to become part of the first framework document on the four-year rolling programme 1989-1992.' The Bureau is asked to approve the document which will then be 'presented for advice to the Committee of Experts.' 8pp. Item 5: Administrative matters:

B/65/5a-Signed decision awarding a contract to 'PROM Gesellschaft fur Kommunikation und Publikation' for the production of an information booklet on 'New technology in mechanical engineering.'

B/65/5b-Decisions to 'request the Commission to approve the transfer of ECU 75.000 from Chapter 1 To Chapter 2' and 'to award a contract to McAuley Construction Ltd. for the construction of two additional seminar rooms in the Foundation's conference centre.'

B/65/5c-Signed decision authorising budgetary transfers within Chapter 1 and Chapter 4 of the 1987 budget 'to bring budget appropriations into line with forecast expenditure.'

B/65/5d-Signed decision awarding a contract to Lernerlanguage for the provision of language instruction to the staff of the Foundation.

B/65/5e-Signed decision awarding an additional contract to Televic for the modification to the installation of the first phase of the new interpretation equipment in the Conference Centre.

B/65/5f-Decision authorising the Director to sign a contract with Nixdorf computers for the supply of computer systems.

B/65/5g-Eleven decisions authorising the Director/Deputy Director approve a study contract. Item 6: Note outlining the main lessons of phase one of the attitudinal survey 'Role of the parties involved in the introduction of new technology.' Covering note states that 'when the Administrative Board approved the programme of work for 1987, it decided that the starting of phase 2 of the attitudinal survey ... would depend on a positive evaluation of the implementation of phase 1 of the survey.' 8pp. Item 7: Item 8: Item 9: Item 10: Other: Notes:
