Abstract

Item 1: Draft agenda of the sixty-sixth meeting of the Bureau. Item 2: Draft minutes of the sixty-fifth meeting of the Bureau, 15 October 1987. Minutes record the Bureau's discussion on the 1988 programme of work (p.1) and the preparation of the 1989-1992 four-year rolling programme (p.3). A copy of a memorandum for the attention of Jean Degimbe, DG Employment, Social Affairs and Education is annexed. Memorandum states that with regards to the 1989-1992 four-year rolling programme 'DG XI [Environment] is pleased to see that from 1988 two new research topics relating to the environment are to be introduced ... Nonetheless, DG XI would like those activities of the Foundation and those directly concerned with the protection of the environment and with consumer interests to be intensified.' Memorandum lists a number of areas DG XI would like to see the Foundation include in its 1989-1992 programme. Item 3: Draft programme of work for 1988. 'The attached document presents the draft programme of work for 1988 as amended following discussion in the Bureau meeting on 15 October 1987. The main corrections were on the programme sheets.' Draft programme contains an introduction putting the programme into context and emphasising the link with the new four-year rolling programme (p.1), a list of activities (p.2) and a number of programme sheets are annexed (p.7). 29pp. Item 4: Approval of 1987 study contracts. List of study contracts details the subject, the institute and the cost of eight 1987 study contracts. 1p. Item 5: B/66/5-Report to the Bureau on the findings of the Commission's architect and a signed decision approving 'the payment to the Foundation's technical consultants and professional advisers for the work already carried out on Phase 1 of the building development proposal.'

B/66/5a-Analysis and proposals for building development at Loughlinstown House from Fitzgerald Reddy and Associates, Architects, 26 Upper Mount Street, Dublin 2. Analysis and proposals includes headings on topography (p.5), space-use analysis and identifying the problem areas (p.14), security (p.26), factors affecting development (p.33) and estimate of cost (p.46). Appendix C contains a number of drawings including the existing site layout plan, a detailed ground floor plan of proposed library and a detailed ground floor plan of the proposed seminar rooms in the conference centre. Item 6: Signed decision authorising the Director to conclude contracts with Nixdorf Computers for the supply of computer systems and with Price Waterhouse for development work on the system. Item 7: Signed decision authorising a budgetary transfer within Chapter 1 (Staff expenditure) of the 1987 budget to bring 'appropriations into line with the forecast expenditure, in particular, the funding requirements for Foundation pension contributions to the special scheme covering the years 1977-1982.' Item 8: Draft agenda of the thirty-fourth meeting of the Administrative Board, 17-18 December 1987. Item 9: Twelve copies of signed decisions authorising the Director to approve study contracts.
