Context
The Network was approved by the ESF Executive Council in May 1999 for a three-year period.
The Chairman was Professor Rodney Douglas, from University /ETH Zurich.
Content and Structure
The Network focuses on: neuronal and network dynamics; gap between elementary and high levels of brain function; brain development, plasticity, adaptation and learning; neuropsychological and pathological processes; computational principles underlying natural intelligence.
The dossier contains: Network proposal; research assessments; final report; correspondence.
It also contains: minutes of the annual meeting, held in Trieste, on 5 Sep 1999; report of the first summer symposium on "Principles of information coding and processing in the brain",held in Zurich, on 17 Jan 2000; report of the second summer symposium on "Neuronal plasticity and dynamics", held in Trieste, on 2-4 Sep 2000; report of the third summer symposium on "Neurotechnology: applications and implementation", held in Trieste, on 25-26 Aug 2001; report of the final symposium on "Establishing synapses to the future", held in Belgais, Portugal, on 30 August – 1 Sep 2002.
