Context
The Network was approved by the ESF Network Group in November 2002 for a three-year period.
The Co-Chairmen were Professor Christian Lefèvre, from ENPC, University of Paris, and Professor Ernesto d'Albergo, from Università La Sapienza, Rome.
Content and Structure
The first area of investigation of the Network is on city networks defined as institutionally formalised cooperation of cities, focusing on how they function, their common and competing interests, their leaders; the role of the European Union and its policies of integration. The second focus is on individual cities and their leaders, elites and politicians who represent cities on international stage.
