Context

Administrative and Biographical History

The Joint University Research Project is a publication project coordinated by the CRE. It was officially launched in 1981.

The Joint University Research Project was created with the aim of establishing a history of European universities, from the Middle Ages to the present, in order to show the development of the university as an institution as well as its relationship with other social partners through time.

The first part was the publication of the ' Historical Compendium of European Universities - Répertoire historique des universités européennes'. It was published in 1984 under the guidance of Lubor Jilek. This work compounds the history of each European university.

The second part was the publication of the series 'A History of the University in Europe', which was published between 1993 and 2011.
