Context
The fonds was deposited at the HAEU in november 2015 by the European University Association (EUA), the association created out of the merging of the Conférence permanente des Recteurs, Présidents et Vice-Chanceliers des Universités européennes with the Confederation of European Union Rectors’ Conference in 2001. This deposit was made under the terms of a deposit contract signed on 9 November 2015 between the EUA and the HAEU.
These archives were previously stored on five pallets in a warehouse in Geneva, Switzerland.
Content and Structure
The fonds is composed of 454 files pertaining to the organisation and activities of the Conférence permanente des Recteurs, Présidents et Vice-Chanceliers des Universités européennes. It covers almost 50 years of activities, from before the CRE official foundation in 1964 to its merging in 2001 with the Confederation of European Union Rectors’ Conference to form the European University Association.
These files are related to the meetings of the CRE's governing bodies as well as various programs and projects managed by the CRE or in which the CRE took part. They consist mainly of paper files, although there are instances of photographs, as well as a few audio cassettes and one video cassette.
The fonds also includes a series of documents emanating from the Liaison Committee of Rectors Conferences of Member States of the European Communities (which became in 1996 the Confederation of European Union Rectors’ Conference) before its merging with the CRE.
Conditions of Access and Use
The major part of the files is open for consultation.
A little group of 52 files will be opened for consultation in the year stated in the text box 'closed until' to be found on the description page of the file.
Academic utilisation and partial reproduction (in the form of photocopies or digital photographs) of the documents is authorized in accordance with the provisions in force at the HAEU.
