The Liaison Committee of Rectors Conferences of Member States of the European Communities (also known as the Comité de Liaison des Recteurs des Etats membres de la Communauté européenne) was established in 1973. The members of the Liaison Committee are Rectors’ Conferences of the Member States of the European Union. It gave way in 1996 to the Confederation of European Union Rectors’ Conference ‘ (Confédération des Conférences des Recteurs de l’Union Européenne) , which itself merged in 2001 with the CRE to create the European University Association.
