A Joint ad-hoc Working Group on UN Outer Space Committee work was created in 1964 by ESRO and ELDO Councils. At the meeting of this Working Group on 5th June 1967 it was proposed that the work of the Group should henceforward be carried out within the ESC framework, itself charged with the coordination of member states policies in the field of outer space.
