Content and Structure
Documentary about the post-war revivial of the heavy steel industry in the Saarland.
In 1952, on behalf of the Saarland government, Henry ALEKAN ("The Sky over Berlin") made an image film about the Saarland, which at that time was a formally independent state with close economic ties to France. The film was later re-edited and the rights to MGM were divested. The work was forgotten and rediscovered in 1985 in an archive in Nancy. These are in part unique shots from the Saarland mining and mining industry of the 1950s. Therefore, "Saarland Glückauf" today is a unique contemporary document and of particular historical value.
