In May 1981 a workshop on the possiblities and limits of computers in the preparation and production of dictionnaries was held. In 1982 the Standing Committee of Humanities established an Ad Hoc Committee on Computerised Lexicography to supervise a survey of dictionnary work in progress in Europe and to follow up a number of recommendations elaborated during the workshop.
