Abstract

In 1990 and 1991 two exploratory meetings and an exploratory workshop were held on a new programme on The Transformation of the Roman World.
On the recommendations of the Standing Committee for the Humanities and the Executive Council, the ESF General Assembly approved a planning year for the preparation of the programme in novembre 1991. The programme started in 1993.
