Context
ESA and NASDA cooperation on Artemis began in 1996 when it was agreed to launch the ARTEMIS satellite on a Japanese launch vehicle and to use ARTEMIS for Japanese missions. First, a dedicated sub-Working Group was created under the umbrella of the ESA/Japan ad-hoc Working Group and the text of agreement was finalised in October 1996.
Due to delays in the ARTEMIS development programme, it was decided to launch ARTEMIS on H-IIA in 2000, therefore the satellite was launched on 12 July 2001 by Ariane 5.
Content and Structure
The sub-series contains minutes of meetings of ARTEMIS Working Group, working documents concerning the process of agreement between ESA and NASDA on ARTEMIS cooperation, technical documents on ARTEMIS, launchers and launch options and correspondence.
