Briefing file prepared by the General Secretariat of the Commission of the European Communities composed of three sub files:

1) 'General'
containing the programme, a steering brief, speaking and background notes on general global issues (GATT, East-West, North-South, protectionism and import surcharge, preparation ow western economic summit, international economic situation, monetary matters and Japan), curriculum vitae, composition of EC's Delegation in Washington, list of ambassadors of the Ten and organigrams of main US agencies.

2) 'New York'
containing the programme, curriculum vitae, role and composition of EC delegation to UN, list of EC's ambassadors to the United Nations, and EC related excerpts of George Ball's memoir's.

3) 'Bilateral'
containing speaking and background notes on the evaluation of EC/US relations (Euratom/US relations, trade problems, report of latest ministerial negotiations and energy), US matters of concern to EC (export administration act, high technology, evolution of US policies (fiscal, labour relations, economic and monetary, article XXIV § 6 GATT, aid to Africa and space research), and EC matters of interest to US (enlargement and economic situation in the Community).
