Abstract
The ESRO programmes concerned small satellites devoted to studies. The ESRO-1 investigated on polar ionosphere and aurora and it was early launched by Western Test Range in California. The ESRO-2 investigated solar astronomy and cosmic rays and it was likewise launched by California. ESRO-4 derived from ESRO-2 but with a greater reliability.
