Context
The ESA Headquarters in Paris stored the files arranged by topics and according a related filing system.
The fonds was deposited at the HAEU under the terms of a deposit contract signed on 12 May 1989.

Content and Structure
The fonds of this European organisation established for space science is composed essentially of minutes and correspondence files emanating from the various ESRO bodies and departments. The minutes of the Council and the Scientific and Technical Committee provide information on decision-making processes and on the main political steps of the organisation. The files supply special support to the history of ESTEC, the biggest establishment of the organisation. The richness of the legal documentation gives a vivid impression of discussions on the various contracts and agreements.
"Blue papers" were sequentially arranged, instead regarding other files, the Historical Archives evaluated the files in homogeneous folders.
Conditions of Access and Use
The fonds is open for consultation, except the contract series closed for 40 years since the creation of the file, documents marked as confidential and restricted.
