Kawwiya is a Sri Lankan-Peruvian student taking a audiovisual studies course at the NYU satelite school in Florence. Her mother is Peruvian and her father is from Sri-Lanka; the entirety of her mother's family lives in Peru. During the violent events in Colombo in April 2019 the researcher contacted Kawwiya. She responded saying that she was in Abu Dhabi for her studies and that her family was safe. The production of the witness correspondes as following: 8 photos; 4 pencil drawings in black and white on an A3 sheet.
