Following a decision taken at Rome Conference in November 1963, a board composed by a governmental delegate and optionally by some technical advisers replaced the pre-exisiting Direction Committee. The tasks of Committee of Deputies were to recommend decisions to and to prepapre the work of the Conferences, to coordinate the activities of the other CETS bodies, to decide about the necessity to establish further sessions.
