Content and Structure
BEUC participated in all successively existing consumer representation bodies at Community and later EU level. This series contains the documents relating to the meetings of the various committees, councils and groups.
The consumer representation at Community level begun in 1962 on initiative of the Commission of the European Economic Community with the creation of the "Comité de contact des consommateurs de la Communauté européenne" (CCCCE). This Committee was replaced in 1973 by the Consumers' Consultative Committee which existed until December 1989. In 1990 this Committee became a Council (Consumers' Consultative Council) and in 2003 the European Consumer Consultative Group (ECCG) and the Consumer Forum were created.
This series assembles the files created by BEUC in the context of its participation in the activities of the boards. Other documents relating to this Community bodies are in the series BEUC-A and BEUC.01.03-01.02
Conditions of Access and Use
The documents created by BEUC and other consumer associations and organisations are open for consultation 15 years after their creation; the documents created by the European Commission are open 30 years after their creation according to the rules governing access to EU archival material.
