Any member of the public is admitted provided he/she is accepted as a reader by the Director of the National Archives. No particular qualifications are needed. Official letters of introduction or recommendation for non-nationals are normally not required.

It should be noted that missions abroad make regular transfers of records to the National Archives. While most Mission deposits will contain some material relating to European integration, some will be more relevant than others eg records of the Perm Rep Brussels (ie the Permanent Representative Office to EEC, Brussles ) deposited as series 1001/….;
