Context
In accordance with Council Regulation No. 2015/496 (EU) amending the original Archives Regulation 354/83 and the subsequent framework agreement between the European Commission and the EUI, all EU institutions bodies and agencies are directed to deposit and make available for public consultation their archives at the HAEU in Florence, according to the thirty-years rule.
The initial CoR deposit to Florence was made on April 2024 and consisted on 10 linear meters, concerning the 1994 and 1995 following series of documents: Opinions of the CoR; Plenary sessions; Meetings of the CRo Bureau; Commissions meetings; Sub commissions meetings; Working group meetings and organisation; and Press releases.
Content and Structure
Created in 1994 after the entry into force of the Maastricht Treaty, the Committee of the Regions (CoR) is an advisory body which represents the interests of regional and local authorities in the European Union and addresses opinions on their behalf to the Council and the Commission and from to the European Parliament. Members can be, for example, leaders of regional authorities, mayors or elected or non-elected representatives of regions and cities of the EU Member States.
