Content and Structure
The film pleads – with reference to the common cultural heritage and the armed conflicts – for a future European cooperation and reminds that the isolation of Great Britain from the continent must be a thing of the past. The British and the people of the continent strive for the same goal: "Europe unite". The premiere of the film was due to coincide with the first meeting of the Assembly of the Council of Europe in August 1949 to highlight the importance of this organization for Europe "where the hopes of millions of Europeans for closer co-operation amongst themselves are centered".
