Correspondence between William Clayton and Jean Monnet, in the most part from Clayton, includes: telegram from Monnet congratulating Clayton on his new post as Under-Secretary of State and arranging a meeting with him and the French Minister of Transport and Air, Jules Moch,letters from Clayton to Monnet commending him on his work for European unity and progress toward Atlantic unity congratulations from Clayton to Monnet on the Declaration of the Action Committee for the United States of Europe, 1963 and expresses hope that the British application to join the Common Market would be accepted so that a trade war could be avoided,- personal greetings and arrangements to meet.
