Dr Gordon Adam was particularly interested in Nuclear Safety in the European Community, and the formulation of Directives to ensure public and workers safety in the field. The Thorp nuclear processing plant at the Sellafield site caused a lot of controversy because of the risks of contamination, therefore there is alot of material concerning Thorp. Research at this time was showing further links between leukemia and radiation, thus the European Parliament had to deal with such findings.
