Monica Stefania Baldi graduated in architecture from the University of Florence. Freelance architect and urban planner, she began her political career very young, in Pistoia, in the city where she was born, as a district councillor and then as coordinator of a Regional Environment Consulta of Tuscany.
Between July 1994 and July 1999, she was member of the European Parliament in the Forza Europa Group (Forza Italia), member of the Bureau of the Group Union for Europe and member of the Group of the European People’s party (Christian-Democratic Group). First Vice-Chair of the Committee on Culture, Youth, Education, Media and Sport; member of the Committee on Development and Cooperation, member of the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Consumer Protection and member of the Committee on Women's Rights. She was elected among the Members from the European Parliament to the Joint Assembly Africa, Caribbean and Pacific and the European Union (ACP-EU) where she chaired the Group on Climate Change in small Island States.
In 2001 Baldi was elected to the Italian Chamber of Deputies (Forza Italia Group) where she held the position of Secretary of the Foreign Affairs Commission until 2006. She was awarded the Grand Official honour of the Italian Republic in 2007. Active in supporting foreign policy and humanitarian actions, especially concerning the enhancement of the cultural heritage with its environmental and economic impact. Author and editor of prefaces to books and brochures in various sectors of activity.
She is Vice President of the European Parliament Former Members Association and of Ars Pace.
