Context

Administrative and Biographical History

The Educational Programme was launched as a pilot project by the Director Dr. Dieter Schlenker in the 2013 with the aim of creating an open space of discussion for the New generations of Europeans whose students and teachers would be able to learn about the European integration process and history.
The data collection has been conserved as a first stage of selection within the materials created by the pupils and teachers both the preparatory materials wich whom the class had carried out to come to their visit at the HAEU as well as, materials created during the educational workshop. Since 2019, the educators and the coordinator started organizing the first materials. All the educators were involved in this process. Pierluigi Bolioli, external collaborator of the Educational programme, started describing the first dossiers. Later on, Virginia Salerno have continued up until 2024 when Alberto Tognarelli, trainee dedicated to the Educational programme concluded systematically the selection and the preparation for the long-term storage of materials.
The first name of the collection, given by the educational team of 2020, was "Living Archive of the New Generations of Europeans". In 2024, together with the Director, the collection was given its final name: "European Civic Education Programme". The ECEP collection has been created with the aim to disseminate the nowadays perspective of young people about the EU, as well as to make available to the international academic community, teachers and educators sources to be able to improve the way they teach the European history and how to enhance the European sense of belonging within the younger generations.
