The file contains correspondence of ESF officials with member organisations mainly regarding the amount of membership contributions to the funding of the ESF and the nomination of delegates to the Executive Council, European co-operation and co-funding of the research into synchrotron radiation and the preparation of visits of Secretary-general John Goormaghtitigh to Turkey, Yugoslavia and Scandinavia. Also included is a paper on "A Study of Humanistic Research in Norway".

The file also includes correspondence concerning the restructuring of Yugoslavian member organisations after the breaking up of the Yugoslavian state and the creation of new national organisations by the successor states. Included is a letter by the Macedonian president Kiro Gligorov to the ESF, a paper by Ivo Klaus on "University and the Link between two cultures: Scientific-Technological and Humanistic".
