The documents contained in the YFEC fonds have been desposited at the HAEU under the terms of a deposit contract signed on 28 February 2001 between, on the one hand, the 'Forum européen de la Jeunesse' and the 'Forum Jeunesse de l'Union européenne', represented by their Secretary-General Mr Tobias Flessenkemper, and, on the other hand, the HAEU, represented by their Director Jean-Marie Palayret.
In 2013 a second group of documents was transferred to the HAEU and integrated in the fonds.

The fonds is composed of 137 dossiers pertaining to the organisation and activities of the Youth Forum of European Communities. It covers the years prior to its creation (1973) until its dissolution in 1996 and consists mainly of correspondence, working documents and minutes of the meetings of its statutory bodies and working groups. Since the YFEC continued to exist formally until 1998, the documents produced from 1996 to 1998 are still part of this fonds.

The material has been subject to rearrangement. Thematical and chronological series have been created taking into consideration the organisational structure of the Youth Forum of European Communities and its activities. Ruth Meyer-Belardini, November 2003 and May 2014
