Eva-Maria Quistorp studied German, political science and Protestant theology at the Free University of Berlin and she was a co-founder and activist of the German peace, women's and environmental movement. With Petra Kelly, Roland Vogt and Joseph Beuys, Quistorp was one of the founders of the Greens in 1979-1980.
From 1981 to 1986 she was a member of the Coordinating Committee of the Peace Movement of the Federal Republic of Germany.
Between July 1989 and July 1994, she was member of the European Parliament. During that period, she was member and Vice-Chair of the Green Group in the European Parliament, member of the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Consumer Protection, member of the Delegation for relations with the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, member of the Delegation for relations with the Member States of ASEAN and the ASEAN Inter-parliamentary Organization (AIPO) and the Republic of Korea.
