Vitaliano Gemelli worked as accountant and auditor since 1970. Gemelli became Member of the European Parliament in 1999 and remained an MEP until 2004. During that time he was member of the Group of the European People's Party (Christian Democrats) and European Democrats, member of the Bureau of the same party, Chair of the Committee on Petitions, member of the Conference of Committee Chairs, member of the Committee on Development and Cooperation, member of the Delegations to the parliamentary cooperation committees and delegations for relations with Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova, member of the Committee on Petitions and he was elected among the Members from the European Parliament to the Joint Parliamentary Assembly of the Agreement between the African, Caribbean and Pacific States and the European Union (ACP-EU).
