Bárbara Dührkop Dührkop is a Spanish politician and member of the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE). She graduated in
Humanities at the University of Uppsala in 1971 and became a Language teacher in Hamburg in 1973. Between 1974 and1978 she was Deputy Chair of the Erlangen-Nürnberg University, between 1978 and 1987 she worked as a language teacher at the Usandizaga Institute and at the German School in San Sebastián, before becoming Chair of the Board of the German School.
She started her political career in 1987, when she was elected member of the European Parliament and she remained an MP until 2009. During this period she was member of the Socialist Group, member of the Group of the Party of European Socialists, Vice-Chair of the Socialist Group in the European Parliament, Vice-Chair of the Committee on Budgets, member of the Committee on Youth, Culture, Education, Information and Sport, member of the Committee on Youth, Culture, Education, the Media and Sport, member of the Committee on Women's Rights, member of the Delegation for relations with Sweden, Finland, Iceland and the Nordic Council, member of the Delegation for relations with Sweden, member of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs and Industrial Policy, member of the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Consumer Protection, member of the Delegation to the EC-Sweden Joint Parliamentary Committee, member of the Delegation to the EC-European Economic Area Joint Parliamentary Committee, member of the Committee on Budgets, member of the Delegation to the EU-Cyprus Joint Parliamentary Committee, member of the Delegation to the European Economic Area Joint Parliamentary Committee (EEA), member of the Members from the European Parliament to the Joint Assembly of the Agreement between the African, Caribbean and Pacific States and the European Union (ACP-EU) , member of the Committee on Fisheries, member of the Delegations to the parliamentary cooperation committees and delegations for relations with Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova, member of the Delegation to the EU-Ukraine and the EU-Moldova Parliamentary Cooperation Committees and Delegation for relations with Belarus, member of the Committee on Budgetary Control, member of the Delegation for relations with Canada, member of the Temporary committee on policy challenges and budgetary means of the enlarged Union 2007-2013, member of the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs.
